I’ve decided to do a favourites list once in awhile of things I come across in my digging around the New Brunswick art and craft scene – here is the first one! Some are artists in the CreatedHere directory, some not yet…
-

Yolande Clark‘s new body of work recently displayed at the Buckland Merrifield Gallery. I love the “élan” and movement of her pieces. I took home one of her sitting figures and I love looking at it.

I recently discovered multi-disciplinary artist Denise Richard. She is a teacher at the New Brunwick College of Craft and Design, and makes props and costumes for theater companies amongst other things. I recently took a natural dyeing workshop with her and was blown away by her knowledge and talent! Just look at some of these pieces. I must know more.

This episode of Studio Tour about Marie-Hélène Allain. She is a legendary sculptor from St-Marie-de-Kent whom I would love to meet. She also has a great name. See full interview with filmmaker Matt Brown here.
-
NB artist Chantal Khoury now makes Montreal home, but was recently in Fredericton for the opening of her parents’ new gallery, Gallery on Queen. Her work feels like seeing a scene through the lens of emotion, like she painted a feeling. We’ll be seeing more of her on here…
